In collaboration with a number of town councils and municipal sports services which have introduced the initial prototypes, we are developing a tool to optimise the economic management of sports facilities.
The aim of this tool is to provide an answer to basic questions in order to achieve efficient management: What is the real cost of a certain sports service? We know that a sports facility generally produces a negative result in the municipal balance sheet, but do we know the origin of that deficit?
Do we know the economic result of each of the services offered? Do we know to what extent the profitability of a service is affected by other variables such as price or size of the group / number of course participants? Do we know if a sports service coststhe same if it is developed in one or another specific space?
We have succeeded in developing an easy-to-use tool for collecting all of the financial information generated by the activity of a sports facility and providing a response to all of these questions. Thanks to this tool, the facility managers will have all of the information they need to streamline their sports facility management. They can see which activities are profitable and which produce losses, and to what extent. This information is essential for coherent formulation of the municipal sports policy.
