The mission of the Basque Team Foundation is to provide resources to non-professional Basque elite athletes in order to facilitate their participation in the highest international competitions. To this end, it has a system of scholarships and grants that it periodically announces since the beginning of its activity in 2007.

In 2022, the bases for the awarding of scholarships and grants have been analyzed in order to identify any biases that could lead to a discriminatory distribution of the resources allocated to top level, either among the different sports modalities or between women and men. To this end, a quantitative analysis was made of the distribution of Basque Team resources among athletes, technical staff, judges and entities, and a qualitative analysis of the bases for the awarding of grants to athletes for the promotion of high-level sports and aid to sports entities for high-level projects.

Finally, lines of intervention have been identified to improve the established distribution criteria, in compliance with the mission and objectives of the Basque Team Foundation.
